TOS in Ukraine Needs Our Support!
Throughout the past three years of the war in Ukraine, TOS Sections from countries around the world have sent financial aid to Ukraine. In 2024, TOS-USA sent $1,500 to the TS/TOS in Ukraine to be used as they thought best. Ukrainian TS/TOS members have been busy using those funds to best advantage, trying to relieve as much suffering as possible.
Svitlana Gavrylenko, General Secretary of the TS in Ukraine, provided a detailed report on how the grant from TOS-USA was used to relieve suffering caused by the war. Keep reading to learn about their many heartfelt projects.

ASSISTANCE TO A LARGE CHILDREN FAMILY OF SETTLERS FROM OCHAKOVO |
Our Odesa volunteer Oleksandr Makarov continues to help a large family of immigrants from Ochakov, who lost their homes and now live in Odesa region, village Shiryaeve, in the house of a fallen soldier. In this family there is a mother and four children, all boys, the youngest is disabled. The children are 15, 14, 12 and 11 years old. In these photos, for the first time we see that mother Olga is smiling. Undoubtedly, Olga has a lot of trouble to provide for her family, but it seems that it has become easier for her psychologically, including due to our attention to their needs. They bought shoes for the boys and bought the necessary bath for the youngest. Well, some of the products were purchased at the request of the boys. Of course, it is nice to receive gifts. We plan to meet with them before the start of the school year. We thank our Odesa colleague, as well as TOS friends from America, who provided targeted financial support for this action. We wish this family all the best in arranging their lives in a new place.

This is the second action that the Theosophical Order of Service is carrying out through our Odesa colleague Oleksandr Makarov, for the family of forced migrants from the occupied part of the Kherson region. The father of this family died, and the mother, Olena Kazimova, was left with three children, one of whom is seriously ill. This family is now sheltered in Odessa, in need of support and very grateful for the opportunity to meet some of their needs with the help of compassionate and compassionate people. This time, they bought medicine, shoes for the children, some food products, and most importantly, a folding bed for one of the children, which the family urgently needed. The mother is very grateful for the help, attention to their needs, sensitivity and compassion. Our heartfelt gratitude to our TOS colleague from Odesa, Oleksandr Makarov, and to all members of TOS America, who provided targeted financial assistance for these war-affected people. ASSISTANCE TO A LARGE CHILDREN FAMILY OF SETTLERS FROM MYKOLAIV REGION
This family asked for our help for the first time. The woman was left with four children, two of them have disabilities. They lived in the Mykolaiv region, were forced to evacuate, now they have stayed in Odesa, with their relatives, and are in difficult household and financial conditions. Our Odesa volunteer Oleksandr Makarov met with the head of the family, Oksana Dyachenko, who spoke about the family's living conditions and showed all the documents. As the first need, Oksana identified medicines for sick children, which are constantly increasing in price, and it is, unfortunately, impossible to do without them. We also bought some products and basic necessities.

We dream of peaceful life returning to our land, we do everything to win and restore justice. |
ASSISTANCE TO A FAMILY-TYPE CHILDREN'S HOME IN KHARKIV REGION |
Imagine for a moment that two adults are raising, taking care of ten disabled children. Three children are already teenagers, and the rest are babies. Spring concerns affect everyone, but the most important task is healthy and nutritious food. The practical experience of the family suggested a reasonable decision that the best gift for the little one at this time would be high-quality medical food, which is not very easy to buy in Kharkov now. This is how our spring gift turned out. We are sincerely grateful to our TOS volunteer Yevdokia Venger for organizing this action. Our heartfelt thanks also to TOS colleagues from America for the targeted financial support of the Kharkiv family-type Children's Home. May spring bring joy, understanding, well-being, peace, smiles and good friends to the big family.

ASSISTANCE TO A FAMILY-TYPE ORPHANAGE IN KHARKIV |
The family of Maria Chupinina and Yury Korolchuk raises and takes care of ten disabled children. They live in Kharkiv, which is constantly under fire. Four children are already teenagers, the eldest Jan is their blood son, and the rest are babies, children of war. These are disabled children or children with severe incurable diseases who were abandoned by their parents in the maternity hospital. Two children have been in the hospital for a long time. Teenager Denys has an exacerbation of a serious illness and needs constant medication. Little Demyan turned 2 years old on July 8, he was born blind. The first operation on the eye did not give the desired result, there is no way to approach the second operation yet, the child is in the intensive care unit of the hospital for almost two months. We are sincerely grateful to our TOS volunteer Yevdokia Wenger for her constant support and connection with the family. Sincere gratitude to our TOS colleagues from America, whose targeted financial support made it possible to offset part of the costs of medicine and medical examination. We will continue to look for opportunities to help this family-type orphanage in the city of Kharkiv. |
EXTEND A HELPING HAND - TATIANA
June 2024: The war brought a lot of suffering and the word "displaced persons" associated with the war evokes pain and a desire to help. People are different, different life paths, but everyone suffers the same. Tatiana Polyakova was evacuated from the city of Vovchansk in May 2024, when the city was already almost destroyed. She survived the horrors of bombardment, shells flew into her home twice. She came under fire and, falling, shattered her shoulder and elbow, then there was an operation and treatment. Currently, Tatyana is waiting for the second operation. She lives in a dormitory with other displaced people, at the age of 53 she has to start organizing her life with one hand, because the evacuation was under bombing and she could not take any things. |

We thank them and colleagues of the TOS of America for their help in paying for the medicine. We hope that all wounds, physical and mental, can be overcome with love and compassion. |
August 2024 update: Tatiana gave sincere thanks for the help for treatment, it gave her hope for restoring her health and confidence that she was not left alone in her trouble. Currently, Tatiana is undergoing rehabilitation in one of the clinics in Kharkiv and is preparing for the second operation. She sent a photo of what was left of her house, and from the once most beautiful and cozy town of Vovchansk. Her apartment was located on the fifth floor of the building, and now, from a missile attack, in this place of the abyss up to the 1st floor. WE SUPPORT THE FAMILY OF A DISABLED IMMIGRANT IN KHARKIV |
Evacuation of people from front-line settlements to Kharkiv continues. Many of them cannot solve their life problems on their own. So, the family of a disabled migrant Serhiy Omelyanenko lives in the hostel together with his brother and his elderly parents, who also need care and help. Our Kharkiv volunteers continue to provide regular assistance to this displaced family. It is important for people to know that someone cares about them, is ready to help and support them. Our volunteers Oleksandr Kolesnikov, Valentina Datsko and Yevdokia Wenger met the parents of Serhiy Omelyanenko, Valentina Mykhailivna, Mykola Ivanovich, and brother Volodymyr, who had just been evacuated from Kupyansk. Necessary things and products were purchased. Great gratitude to our volunteers in Kharkiv for their regular assistance to the injured people, for their kindness, compassion, and sincerity. We thank our colleagues of TOS from America for targeted financial support of this action. We believe in the Victory of Good and Light. [Note: volunteers visited this family and brought food and supplies on five occasions from November 2024 - March 2025.]
