In a previous post, I wrote about the trauma-healing and humanitarian work being done by Lori Leyden, Ph.D., with young people ages 15-25 in Rwanda who were orphaned by the 1994 genocide.  Lori's efforts, as I reported in my first post, have been enormously successful in dramatically reducing trauma outbreaks in an overcrowded orphanage.   More about Lori's work and vision at: www.ProjectLightRwanda.com

From the beginning, Lori's efforts have been partly supported by the Children2Children group of middle school students at Pacific Grove Middle School in Santa Barbara, California, who raised money by their own efforts (and this was their own idea) to purchase basic necessities such as electricity and water tanks for the orphanage in Rwanda.  Recently those kids, and the young people in whose lives they have made such a difference, got to meet face to face . . . almost.  Lori was able to raise funds to leave behind a laptop at the orphanage on her last visit, and the orphans had their first (and historical) skyping session with the Santa Barbara middle school students. 

There were non-stop smiles, and the kids on both sides of the world sang to each other.  It's a fun video to watch, but if you don't have time to watch the whole 13 minutes, skip to 8:09, where the kids talk about what this service has meant to them and how it feels to them . . . wow.
